"I'm going for a walk, and I may be some time!
Armed with a tent, a camping
stove, my trusty trekking poles and a spare pair of underpants, I will valiantly fight my way south from John o'Groats, through the remote mountains
and boglands of Scotland, along the Pennine spine of England and via a
multitude of trails which, when stitched-together, ultimately lead to Land's
End."
These were the words I used prior
to my departure from John o’Groats on 15 July 2009. Three months and a little over 1,200
miles later, on 9 October, I reached Land’s End. I had wild-camped in the
wilderness, drawn water from streams, endured relentless rain, suffered from a
shin-splint and been the recipient of the most incredible kindness and
generosity from people I met.
I used my trek as a means to
collect for two charities, CANCER RESEARCH UK and the BRITISH HEART FOUNDATION,
and eventually reached my target of £10,000. Along the way I shared my
experiences through my BLOG page.
I continue to maintain this
website as a record of my trek, and also as a resource for others who might be
considering similar adventures. Please feel free to use the CONTACT ME page if I can be of further assistance.
